The news provides another problem for Scottish head coach Gregor Townsend who has a host of injuries piling up as his side prepare to face France in their next game.
He is already without key players such as John Barclay, Hamish Watson, Ryan Wilson, Sam Skinner and WP Nel.
While it was also confirmed during the week that star centre Huw Jones will miss the rest of the 6 Nations with a knee ligament injury.
The only good news is that star full-back Stuart Hogg, who went of injured against Ireland, may be back for their final game of the tournament if reports are to be believed.
Update on Hogg shoulder injury in @SundayTimesScot: no surgery required; hasn’t given up hope of featuring in Calcutta Cup closer on Mar 16; even if Twickenham comes slightly too soon, the outlook looks positive for Glasgow’s Champions Cup trip to Saracens two weeks later
