Scotland’s Huw Jones has been ruled out of the rest of the 6 Nations after sustaining a knee injury during last week’s loss to Ireland.
The Scottish Rugby Union has announced that Jones will not play any further part in this year’s tournament.
“Scotland centre Huw Jones is unlikely to play any further part in the 2019 Guinness Six Nations. The Glasgow Warriors midfielder sustained knee ligament damage in the national team’s round two defeat to Ireland at BT Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday, with scan results suggesting the injury recovery time would likely be beyond the reaches of the current campaign,” they announced.
Meanwhile head coach Gregor Townsend has admitted that Stuart Hogg may not be fit to feature against France, but it is hoped that he may still have a role to play in this years’ tournament.
“Full-back Stuart Hogg damaged shoulder ligaments early in the first-half of the same game and is now under the joint care of the Glasgow Warriors and Scotland medical teams, with his rehabilitation progress and review ongoing,” he said.
Yesterday he also spoke of his desire to
have Hogg back.
“I’m very hopeful that he’ll get good news and that he’ll be available to play some part in the Six Nations,” he said.
If Hogg doesn’t recover in time he will be replaced in the team by the energetic and ever improving Blair Kinghorn.
