Leinster are facing the possibility of Jack McGrath leaving them for Ulster at the end of the season.

This will come as a shock to many Leinster fans, but it appears as though the IRFU have become frustrated at his lack of starting opportunities.

It is understood that he has another year left on his national contract and with this in mind and Ulster’s shortage of front-rowers, it appears as though he could be set to head North.

Talks are said to be at an advanced stage, however a deal is yet to be finalised.

Ulster head coach Dan McFarland is believed to be looking for experienced players to complement 23-year-old Eric O’Sullivan.

McFarland announced the capture of Worcester prop, Gareth Milasinovic, with McGrath looking like the next addition to walk through the Kingspan Stadium doors.

In McGrath Ulster would be gaining a British and Irish Lion and Irish international with 53 caps to his name.

With Dave Kilcoyne jumping ahead of McGrath in the international pecking order the move may be a wise move for the prop.

If the move goes through, he would join a growing Leinster contingent at Ulster with the likes of John Cooney, Jordi Murphy and Marty Moore already on the books.

He would also become the second high-profile player to leave the boys in blue in a week, with Sean O’Brien announcing he will depart for London Irish come the end of the season.

The bright side for Leinster fans is that they have some of the best academies around and with an extra place up for grabs you can be guaranteed that someone will take their chance to shine.

This would be another great addition to Ulsters squad ahead of next season, we took a look at the rest of the signings here.
