Former Munster back Simon Zebo has been ruled out of playing against the Irish province for Racing 92 during this weekend’s Champions Cup game.

The full-back is a key member of the back-line, but picked up an ankle injury while playing for in the Top 14 against Clermont over the weekend and will now miss a reunion against his former employers.

Meanwhile, Munster are facing somewhat of a crisis at the moment heading into the game at fly-half, with Joey Carbery and Tyler Bleyendaal definitely missing the game through injury and JJ Hanrahan is in a race to be fit.

With all of their top three No 10’s possibly missing the trip to Paris it appears likely that Rory Scannell or Ben Healy will have to take the reins at playmaker.

Elsewhere they will certainly be without long-term absentee Tadhg Beirne, while Andrew Conway is a major doubt with a neck injury and Tommy O’Donnell is battling to be fit as he tries to shake off a hamstring injury.

The game is vital to the overall standings in Pool 4, with Racing currently sitting top of the table and knowing a win will secure their place in the quarter-finals with a game to spare. While Munster need a win to stand a chance of progressing as they try to withstand Saracens fight-back in the group.

The Irish province may have more injuries to worry about, but it will be interesting to see how big a loss Zebo is to the home side on Sunday.
