Uruguay have caused one of the biggest upsets in rugby history after defeating Fiji 30-27 at the Rugby World Cup in Japan earlier this morning.
The South Americans have only ever won two previous matches at the global showpiece but this is certainly their most glamorous with the others coming against fellow minnows Spain and Georgia.
However, tries from Santiago Arta, Manuel Diana and Juan Manual Cat, alongside three conversions and three penalties from the incredible Felipe Berchesi saw the Uruguains over the line while Fiji now look certain to exit at the pool stages once more despite picking up two bonus points in their loss.
What makes the win even more impressive is that only last year the two sides met and Fiji ran out 68-7 winners, showing the improvement of their opposition.
The debate has now begun as to whether this is the biggest upset in World Cup history or whether that crown still remains with hosts Japan for their stunning 34-32 win over South Africa four years ago.
Uruguay will have plenty of confidence heading into their second game against Georgia on Sunday as they will want to make it two from two, while Fiji will now have to hope for a miracle if they are to progress needing at least two bonus point wins over Georgia and Wales.
