England in for Massive Payday if Victorious at RWC – Huge Rugby News

England players are set to have a big payday should they finish the Rugby World Cup as winners according to reports.

The Telegraph are claiming that should the English take home the Webb Ellis Cup come November 2nd that the squad will share a huge pool of money in bonuses.

It reports that each player would bring
home an extra £225,000 if they rule the world for the first time since 2003.

To put that into context the All Blacks,
who are chasing their third successive World Cup are set to receive an
individual bonus of just over £78,000 should they make another piece of history
according to the New Zealand Herald.

They will also receive a payment of around £3500
per week while they are in the World Cup camp.

However, despite the severe discrepancy in
payment should the teams win, former All Black star Wyatt Crockett believes
that creating history is more important to his former side than how much money
they take home.

“There is so much that goes into winning a Rugby World Cup. Money comes and goes, but what doesn’t is that trophy. You can always say that you have won a World Cup and that is very special for myself and the guys. This World Cup is going to be incredibly tough and the motivation is to get your name and your team into history – a three-peat would be massive for the boys. As a player you want to be a player who has gone out there and won a World Cup,” he said while speaking to the New Zealand Herald earlier this year.

However, it does show the lack of funding
provided to southern hemisphere nations as one would imagine that a treble
chasing nation should be earning a lot more than a third of a nation that has
only held the trophy once before.
