England Fly-Half George Ford is reportedly being lined up by several Rugby League Clubs.
Ford is no longer a regular starter for England, having lost his place to Owen Farrell and has found his game time very limited in an England jersey this season.
Reports are suggesting that Leeds Rhinos, St Helens and Wigan Warriors are all interested in securing the services of Ford.
Ford’s father Mike Ford had a long Rugby League career, playing for the likes of Wigan, Oldham, Castleford and Warrington Wolves among others. George though has spent his entire career in union, starting off at Leicester Tigers and then switching to Bath when his Dad was appointed as Director of Rugby.
He has represented England at various youth levels including U16,U18,U19 and U20, even playing for the U18’s when he was just 15. He made his senior debut and currently has 53 national team caps to his name. The only men who played more times then him wearing the England 10 jersey are Jonny Wilkinson and Rob Andrew.
Last month saw Luther Burrell confirming his switch to league. He will leave the Northampton Saints at the end of the season in order to link up with Super League side Warrington Wolves.
The 31-year-old said of his switch: “I know I will need to earn the trust of my team-mates first and foremost. I also hope to bring some physicality, that edge and the ability to break the line.
“I’ve had the opportunity to play for England in union and to play on some of the biggest stages in finals. I’d like to think I can transfer the experience I have gained into rugby league.
“I’m not here to make up the numbers. I’m coming over and I mean business.”
