Leinster will be without Devin Toner for their Pro 14 final clash with Glasgow Warriors this Saturday due to a knee injury.
The towering lock picked up the injury during Leinster’s impressive semi-final win over rivals Munster on Saturday afternoon, when he was replaced in the second-half after an awkward fall.
Following the full-time whistle in the RDS the cameras quickly swung Toner’s way as he was seen on the side-line with heavy strapping around his left knee and using a crutch.
He underwent a scan on the injury and its extent but the province have only confirmed that he will miss the final and have not made any further comment on the full extent of the injury.
It comes as a massive blow to one of Leinster and Ireland’s key men as he has already miss a large amount of the season due to an ankle injury sustained in Ireland’s first Six Nations game against England.
He was forced to have surgery for the injury and that left him out of the remainder of Ireland’s championship and some games for his province.
Joe Schmidt will be hoping that this injury is nowhere near as serious as he prepares for Ireland’s World Cup campaign in Japan later this year.
