The first round of the Vodacom Super Rugby season will have a Super Hero theme in South Africa with Spider-Man, Thor, Black Panther and Captain America inspired jerseys being worn at Cape Town Stadium on #SuperHeroSunday (3rd February) at the first public appearance of the Marvel makeover of SA’s Vodacom Super Rugby teams.

The Vodacom Super Rugby double-header on Sunday 3 February will be the debut outing for the 4 franchises Marvel-inspired jerseys. The jersey designs have each been meticulously designed to reflect the superheroes the South African teams will represent while also staying true to each team’s already iconic colour identidies.

The Emirates Lions will line out as wannabee Peter Parker’s in the familiar webbed suit of Spider-Man. The Cell C Sharks will don the Black Panther outfit. The DHL Stormers who will be wearing BLK this season will be emulating Thor and the Vodacom Bulls will be donning the shield of Captain America.

The jerseys are the result of a ground-breaking and unique collaboration between SA Rugby, DStv, SuperSport, Marvel and Vodacom. The jerseys will only be wheeled out for ‘special occasions’ so will be exclusively worn in most South African derbies. The teams will revert to their original strips for matches against international opposition.
