Gloucester Rugby can confirm that Fraser Balmain suffered a significant knee injury during our opening Heineken Champions Cup fixture last weekend.
Balmain has now had surgery on the injury he sustained in the 62nd minute of Saturday’s win over Bordeaux and will begin his rehabilitation with the Gloucester Rugby medical department.
Chief Operating Officer, Alex Brown added his support to Fraser.
“It’s a huge blow to lose Fraser for such a prolonged period. He’s been such a consistent performer for us and key player in the squad.
“I know Fraser will be keen to get back on the pitch as soon as he can and will be working diligently with our medical team. There’s still hope that we may see Fraser at the latter stages of the season, however, it’s imperative that he takes the time required to fully recover.”
