The USA number ten, who made the summer switch from Sale Sharks, linked up with his new teammates on Monday after returning from international duty – and the 32-year-old can’t wait to get started at his new club.
“It’s been good and I’ve been getting to know all of the new faces,” he said. “I’m really excited to be here and we’ve already had some challenging training sessions, but I’m excited to be here and can’t wait to get stuck into the new season.
“Playing against Bristol over the years means I’ve experienced the atmosphere inside Ashton Gate, and arriving here and seeing the facilities at the High-Performance Centre, there’s a lot that drew me down here and I’m pleased to be at the club.”
Regarded as one of the best fly halves in the Premiership, the 32-year-old links up with Pat Lam once again, having helped Connacht to a maiden PRO12 title during the 2015/16 season.
“Pat gave me my first opportunity in professional rugby at Connacht and I learned a lot from him. John Muldoon was the Connacht captain back then and Conor McPhillips was coaching then too, so it’s helped to have these guys here to help me settle into the environment too.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to says Bristol is such an incredible city, so I’m excited to get out and explore when the opportunity arises.”
