Could things get any worse for Scotland? They’ve already lost a host of infleuntial players for this 6 Nations campaign with John Barclay, Hamish Watson, Ryan Wilson, Huw Jones, Finn Russell and Stuart Hogg all unavailable with injury but one more player could be joining that list for a slightly different reason.

It has been reported this morning that back-rower Josh Strauss could miss the French trip has he’s lost his passport….

The Sun newspaper reported this morning that Strauss, who has a South African passport but qualifies to play for Scotland through the three year residency rule, can’t find his passport or get a replacement in time for the weekend.

David Mundell, the Secretary of State for Scotland, has intervened to try to help secure safe passage for the player.

“MP David Mundell found out about this and asked the Foreign Office to help,” a UK Government source told the newspaper. “They have been in talks with France today trying to sort this out.”

A Scottish Rugby spokesperson added: “We are working with the relevant authorities to secure Josh’s safe passage to Paris.”

Update:

The Scottish Rugby Union say the situation has now been resolved and he will make the trip. – 11.15am
