Leinster Rugby back David Hawkshaw will join Connacht Rugby ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season.
23-year-old Hawkshaw, who plays for Clontarf FC in the Energia All-Ireland League, made his debut in November 2020 against Glasgow Warriors and has since scored 14 points in his nine games with the province.
Most recently he came off the bench in the Kingspan Stadium last weekend against Ulster Rugby in the United Rugby Championship.
Speaking to leinsterrugby.ie, Hawkshaw said, “the last two years have been challenging due to Covid-19 but working in an environment like Leinster Rugby it has also offered opportunities to learn and grow as a player.
“I definitely feel that I have improved in that time and training in such a professional environment as we have in Leinster Rugby but I also understand that I now need to start getting games under my belt to add that extra layer of experience to my game.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time with Leinster Rugby and the challenge of getting to that level through the pathway and into the Academy and then playing with the senior team.
“The journey to this point has been brilliant and I’d like to thank all the coaches and back room staff from the age grade side all the way up. Playing with my mates in Belvedere College and then in Clontarf and then wearing the Leinster Rugby jersey.
“It’s a special place and a special club and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunities I got here. I’m looking forward now to finishing the season strong.”
