Keddie & Rowlands named co-captains – Huge Rugby News

Harri Keddie and Will Rowlands will co-captain Dragons RFC for the 2022/23 campaign in the BKT United Rugby Championship and EPCR Challenge Cup.

Homegrown back row Keddie – who is closing in on a century of appearances for the club – remains in the role after leading the team for much of the 2021/22 season.

Wales international lock Rowlands – who has made 11 appearances for Dragons RFC – takes his share of the captain’s armband responsibility for his second full season with the Men of Gwent.

On appointing the pair as co-captains, Dean Ryan said: “We will run with co-captains in Harrison and Will. “Will has a huge presence on the squad, but obviously also commitments with Wales, while Harrison has developed as a strong captain.

“Rather than look at one person having to answer everything, we want to look at it as shared responsibility.

“I want to develop Will’s leadership skills, give him more permission to be the front voice, and Harrison has a natural ability to lead. This decision makes us stronger.

“Neither of them is worried about the title it carries. It increases the amount of people that we have got making decisions in the heat of the moment.

“We have people like JJ (Hanrahan) and others who are good decision makers and Ross (Moriarty) has captained us at times and brings an energy to the team. We feel that will build nicely with Will and Harrison at the forefront.”
