https://gty.im/1180599112 The Cardiff Blues have confirmed they have signed former player Filo Paulo on a short-term deal following somewhat of an injury crisis.

he Samoan ace, who played for the club from 2013 to 2015, will remain in Wales until the end of the season as the Blues attempt to pull-off a decent season.

With injuries to the likes of Josh Navidi, Ellis Jenkins and Rory Thornton the addition of versatile forward Paulo should help cover the pack in their absence.

Speaking on the signing head coach John Mulvihill was delighted to welcome the 6ft 8 lock back to the club and is looking forward to having his experience in the squad.

“We’re really happy to welcome Filo into the squad. He was a really popular member within the squad during his first period here and he will be an important addition, especially with the season set to intensify over the next couple of months. He’s a big man who can add some bulk to our options in the second row and we’re looking forward to seeing his contributions both on and off the field. He’s very excited to return here. He really enjoyed his time here before moving to Italy and we’re hoping he can bring his recent experiences from the World Cup to become a useful player for us between now and the end of the season,” he said.

Paulo featured during three of Samoa’s Rugby World Cup pool fixtures this year and has 34-caps to his name.

As well as his international experience he has also played for Super Rugby franchise the Blues, English Premiership side London Irish and fellow PRO14 outfit Benetton.

He is expected to link up with the rest of the squad later this week and will be a welcome addition to a depleted Cardiff side.
