WATCH: Cricket streaker deserves a rugby contract #LegDrive

Published

Yes, it’s not technically rugby… but this #LegDrive belongs on a rugby pitch, not a cricket wicket.

A bold streaker wearing nothing but a green hat ran onto the field during the Cricket World Cup match between England and New Zealand on Wednesday and provided the crowd and viewers with around five minutes of entertainment that had a packed crowd roaring with laughter.

The security didn’t possess the defensive prowess of a Shaun Edwards coached defensive line with the streaker breaking the ‘tackle attempts’ of 5 security guards. The orange vested guard certainly can’t be expecting too many compliments on his contribution.

Thankfully he was stopped for a second time and taken from the pitch. The sport’s governing body, the International Cricket Council, later said he had been arrested.

The Rebels played their final conference game on Saturday against the Chiefs in Melbourne but came out the wrong side of a drubbing.

After the game, Wallabies and Rebels’ scrum-half Will Genia took to Instagram with a very poignant post.

Genia (31) uploaded a picture collage with a try-scoring picture of himself getting over the whitewash for the Queensland Reds and more recently, the Rebels.

His caption read, “What a ride Super Rugby”.

His contract with the Rebels expires this year and he has been tipped for another move overseas. Genia has had a stint in Europe previously with Stade Francais but it’s rumoured that a move to Japan is looking more likely.

Quade Cooper, his current half back partner with the Rebels and previously with the Reds and Wallabies commented on the post,

“Much love bro! Been unreal being back together ✊🏾❤️ love you bro”

Quade Cooper is another whose contract is up in the air. His deal with the Rebels also expires at the end of the Super Rugby campaign and he has also been widely linked with a move to Europe with Harlequins one of the favourites to land the mercurial playmakers signature.

All Black Legend Set for Big Screen Debut

One of rugby’s greatest ever players is to try his luck off the field and has been working on something special

Former All Black out-half Dan Carter has announced that he is releasing a movie about his life in August.

The 36-year-old, who is considered by many as the game’s greatest ever player, will release the film that gives fans a glimpse of his personal life as well as all things on the field too.

Carter made the announcement on social media and is to release a trailer and title in due course.

“Excited to share with you guys about a project I’ve been working on over the past 12 months. A film will be coming out which gives a deep insight into my personal life, my career and particularly my challenging road to the 2015 Rugby World Cup. It will be in cinemas in New Zealand on August 29 and I’ll be sure to share the details for my international friends soon! Official title and trailer to come,” he said.

The out-half is still playing for Japanese outfit Kobe Steelers in the Top League, having missed out on a chance to re-sign for former side Racing 92 earlier this year following a neck injury.

He is still currently recovering from that neck injury and is expected to return to the pitch next season.

The All Black legend has already started setting up for life away from rugby as he is joint-owner of investment company 910 Limited with former Crusaders player Ben Hurst. The company has already bough a 10% share in start-up business called Laundromap which will provide an on-demand cleaning delivery service.

He has also bought into a retirement village in Christchurch with other All Black captains Richie McCaw and Kieran Read.

Fans will be eagerly awaiting the movie just to get a snippet of what it’s like to be one of the greatest athletes on the planet.
