Scotland forward Jamie Ritchie has been cleared to travel to Japan for the Rugby World Cup.
Ritchie, who sustained a facial injury
during Scotland’s final warm-up game last Friday, a 36-9 victory over Georgia, is
now set to join-up with the rest of the 31-man squad tomorrow.
It was feared that the 23-year-old would be
out for a long-period of time as he picked up a deep wound but after undergoing
specialist treatment in Scotland, he is ready for action.
Ritchie was replaced on Friday by fellow Edinburgh squad member Magnus Bradbury, who was not named in the Scots original 31-man squad but flew over with the rest of the squad on Monday and will now remain there as cover.
Bradbury had previously been side-lined
himself with a rib injury which cause him to miss the first three of Scotland’s
warm-up fixtures.
Gregor Townsend’s team are based in Nagasaki as they prepare for their opening World Cup game against Ireland on September 22nd. Following that game they will take on Samoa, Russia and hosts Japan, where they will hope to progress from the pool and reach the quarter-finals.
