Exeter Chiefs have confirmed that Jack Nowell will continue to undergo assessment on his left ankle injury he sustained during the side’s 37-34 Gallagher Premiership final loss to Saracens.
The England back hobbled off the pitch with only 10 minutes remaining at the end of the game and having undertaken a scan on the injury he will have to go for additional tests.
“Jack has undergone a scan on his ankle, which at this stage needs further assessment before a decision is made as to ongoing treatment for him,” a statement from Exeter said.
The 26-year-old was in incredible form throughout the game and has been in fine form for the majority of the season, showing his ability to beat defenders with ease and his dangerous running.
It is expected that Nowell will be among those selected by Eddie Jones for England’s Rugby World Cup squad to head to Japan later this year.
Both Saracens and England will be hoping that Nowell will have a speedy recovery and make it to the World Cup, but fans and staff alike have an anxious wait to see what happens.
