2012 World Player of the Year, Dan Carter could be set for a return to European Rugby.

Following the retirement of Pat Lambie last week French media out RMC Sport have reported that Racing 92 are in the market for a medical joker to fill the void until the end of the season.

Racing 92 are set to lose Finn Russell for the 6 Nations campaign and their options at 10 are very limited with Raphael Lagarde and Ben Volavola the only experienced options.

Racing 92 are said to be in talks with several options for next season with Top 14 veteran François Trinh-Duc said to be one of them.

The options for now are exceptionally limited with all Northern Hemisphere teams mid season and with Super Rugby due to kick off in a couple of weeks there is a lack of players not under contract.

Carter left Racing 92 at the end of last season to take up a contract in Japan with the Steelers. They have just finished their season with Carter being voted MVP in the Japanese Top League.

Racing 92 president Lorenzetti has not ruled out a move for Carter but was reported saying that a deal for Carter would be ‘difficult’ as he too is under contract with the Steelers and raised concerns that he has only played 9 games this season and highlighted that the All Black is now 36.

It may sound like a fairytale for Racing 92 fans but stranger things have happened.
