According to ‘the42‘, Leinster’s Scott Penny has had two separate surgeries on his shoulder to try and correct longstanding issues.
The 19-year-old, broke through the Leinster ranks this season, and having been ruled out of the U20 World Championship with Ireland he decided to go under the knife.
The openside flanker was rewarded for his fine season by being handed a senior contract with the boys in blue next season and is positive about his recovery.
“Disappointing way to finish off an incredible season but both operations went well thankfully. Big summer of rehab ahead so looking forward to getting back playing next season,” he said.
Penny made a total of six PRO 14 appearances in his debut season and was one of the stars of Ireland’s U20 Grand Slam winning Six Nations championship.
The former St Michael’s College man only made his senior debut against the Ospreys last October and was one of seven academy players to be handed senior contracts for the 2019/20. Ciaran Frawley, Hugo Keenan, Ronan Kelleher, Conor O’Brien, Jimmy O’Sullivan and Hugh O’Sullivan being the other players promoted.
