PRO14 the Dragons have announced the arrival of former Welsh hooker Mefin Davies ahead of next season.
Davies will join during the summer in a move that will see him link up with the club’s head coach Dean Ryan once again following a stint together before at Premiership side the Worcester Warriors.
The 47-cap international is currently the scrum and assistant coach with the Warriors, but Ryan is delighted to have him join the Welsh region next season and seeing what he can bring to the table.
“Investing in our coaching environment will improve us as a team, so it’s pleasing to announce that Mefin will be joining us next season. I know Mefin very well after we worked together during our time at Worcester, where he guided the development of Warriors’ talented forwards. He has made a real impression in the English Premiership and we now looking forward to seeing the impact he can make at Dragons,” he said.
Davies had a successful career at test-level having made his debut in 2002, before going on to play in the Rugby World Cup the following year and then helping Wales to a Six Nations Grand Slam in 2005.
Following his playing career he moved into coaching, first becoming a development coach at the Ospreys, then moving on to take the head coach reigns at Swansea and ending up in the Premiership with the Warriors. The Dragons will certainly hope he can boost their team as they look to build toward a more successful future.
